Quartz Creek Cabins is located less than one mile from historic Pitkin, Colo. Additionally, we are surrounded by the beautiful Gunnison National Forest.
Numerous roads and trails in the national forest offer outings for ATVs, dirt bikes, snow mobiles and four-wheel drive vehicles.
Gunnsion is located approximately 27 miles to the west. From Gunnison, there are several destinations—Crested Butte is only 28 miles to the north, and Blue Mesa Reservoir, Colorado’s largest body of water, can be found 8 miles to the west.
Closer, there are a variety of adventure opportunities and activities available. Guests should consider visiting and exploring the Alpine Tunnel, the Cumberland Gap, Tin Cup and the ghost towns of St. Elmo and Whitepine.
Quartz Creek Cabins is located just below the Pitkin State Fish Hatchery. Quartz Creek runs through the property for approximately a 1/4 mile, providing our guests many great trout fishing opportunities—several of them right out your cabin’s back door.
For the hunters, opportunities in the surrounding mountains for deer and elk are world class. For those that just like to observe, Quartz Creek and the surrounding mountains offer the chance to see a variety of wildlife, including the deer and elk (and at least one moose) that have been known to join us in the early mornings.
